Awkwafina

Awkwafina started out as an American rapper and singer, making sly songs that addressed issues such as racial and sexual identities with a funny twist. In the years before she stepped to Hollywood the singer was able to perform a variety of tracks. Nora Lum was born to Chinese-Korean immigrants in Forest Hills Queens. Her first exposure to music was via the trumpet. Later, she began hip-hop and classical training. When she was in the college years, she remained focused on her studies, and then studied women's studies as well as journalism. While she was for a brief amount of time, in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were offered as well. It wasn't until after graduating that she shifted her focus to music. In 2012 her track My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success through the Internet before settling on her debut album Yellow Ranger in 2014. On the album, there was other hits that went viral, including Queef (body-positive) as well as NYC Bitche$. This track was directly linked into another venture Awkwafina's NYC A travel guide that was released in 2015. She decided to pursue a career as an actor after having completed her two previous endeavors, author and musician. She has appeared in films such as Neighbors 2 Storks as well as Bad Rap. She had a breakthrough role in 2018 with a few notable films like Dude Ocean's Eight as well as Crazy Rich Asians. In June she dropped her EP "In Fina We Trust".
