AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco, an American professional soccer player, is a striker with San Diego Wave FC (NWSL) and is the captain of the San Diego Wave FC. She was also co-captain of the United States women's soccer team from 2018 to 2020 with Megan Rapinoe as well as Carli Lloyd. In the months following her graduation in the early years of the University of California, Berkeley where she was a player for the California Golden Bears, Morgan was drafted number one overall during the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. She made her debut with the club and assisted the team win its league championship. Morgan was just 22 when she was chosen to be part of the team of the nation in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 which they won as runner-up. In the 123rd minute of the semi-final match against Canada at the 2012 London Olympics she scored the game-winning goal. She ended 2012 with 21 and 28 goals. assists, joining Mia Hamm as the only American woman to score 20 goals and give 20 assists during the same calendar year , making her the sixth the tiniest U.S. player to score 20 goals in a single season. Morgan was later awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year and was also a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan also assisted in helping the United States win their titles in the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, where she was named to the Dream Team for both tournaments in addition to winning the Silver Boot in 2019.
